Douglas Architects is an architecture and design studio set up by Craig Douglas in Hackney, London. We work on new and existing homes, furniture design, interiors and small scale new build mixed use schemes.
Recently completed projects include the refurbishment and extension of a 1960’s town house in Belsize Park and the construction of a bespoke garden studio for an illustrator in Hackney. We are currently working on a mixed use project in Southwark including 14 apartments and we are working on the renovation of a Grade II* listed building in Soho. We are also currently working on a project to renovate and extend a house near Newmarket, in Suffolk. Regardless of size or location, what we like to do with our work is to pay attention to detail at all stages of our projects in order to make architecture work for our clients.
The studio is led by Craig who has over 25 years experience working in architecture. He worked in Dusseldorf, Berlin and Dublin before moving to London in 1999. He has designed projects on greenfield and brownfield sites and has worked with listed and locally listed buildings.
He worked at RMJM London for 3 years before setting up Douglas and King Architects in 2002. He was director there for 11 years before setting up Douglas Architects in April 2013.
Craig studied architecture at the University of Liverpool, University of the Creative Arts in Kent and the Duesseldorf Fachhochschule. He has taught at the Museum of Modern Art in Dublin and University College Dublin and has been a guest critic at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London.
Douglas Architects is an RIBA Chartered Practice and alongside the full architecture and design service we also offer specialist services such as interior design, feasibility studies and planning applications.
